Construction & Building Services

Helping you get to grips with new regulations and the impact that training has on work life are just two ways in which IBP can assist you.

The Construction Skills Certification Card Scheme (CSCS)

CranesThe introduction of the CSCS has brought sweeping changes to the construction and building services sector. Most major contractors now require sub-contractors to hold an accreditation card before they are allowed n-site. Even professionals who have worked in their field for 25 years or more need this card to work on-site with the majority of contractors.

Training is now an integral part of working in this sector, and companies are crying out for training help so that they can conform to new regulations.

It is here that IBP plays an important role. IBP advisors will:-

What the scheme requires

CSCS requires sub-contractors to carry out a health and safety multiple choice test followed by an on-site assessment; this can lead to an NVQ Level 2.

Are you interested in becoming a training assessor?

DrillingWork in this area has gone from strength-to-strength over the past few months. Training providers across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are now looking for individuals interested in sharing their experience in the construction and building services industry by becoming training assessors.

Today, there is a severe shortage of people with direct experience of working in the construction and building services industry trained to become assessors. IBP is now offering fully-funded A1 assessor courses for individuals considering using their skills to educate and assess people working in this sector.

How becoming an assessor could benefit you

Businessman Ken Raquet owns Ken’s Carpentry based in Harefield, Southampton and he is often called on to lead a build project in his role as carpenter.

PlumberAlready half way through his course at Eastleigh College, Ken began his NVQ Level 3 in on-site assessment in building-site supervision in response to a growing desire to expand his horizons and increase his business acumen. His passion for learning and his desire to source funding for a recognised qualification were what led him to IBP Training and Employment Ltd.

Mr Raquet explains:

“I needed to implement a fall back plan as the nature of my job is physically demanding and eventually parts of my body will give-up.

Management is an area that I can easily progress into and, as an experienced carpenter, I often find myself roped into a managerial role.

Increasingly I have felt he need for a formal qualification and training.”

Ken’s ambitions for the future include undertaking an NVQ Level 4 in this field as well as implementing all that he has learned in his business.

Mr Raquet said;

“Many doors that were closed to me are now opening simply because I have a qualification.

By finding an organisation that was willing to back me I am now able to pursue my business goals.”
